Student Voice
Student Voice is run by the students of Arthur Mellows with the intended aim of enabling them to have a voice within the College.
The Council meets every half term and meetings are chaired by the Head Boy and Head Girl and attended by elected representatives from each Year Group. These students are accompanied by a Sixth Form student who conveys the views and ideas of that particular Year Group on subjects such as homework, assessment, catering and the College environment. A questionnaire is sent to each Form Group where the representative discusses a topic with them. This then formulates the responses and ideas to a Year meeting and subsequently a full Student Council meeting.
A member of the Senior Leadership Team attends each meeting to hear the students’ views. Recent meetings have explored such issues as diversity, inclusion and wellbeing, as well as food, uniform and curriculum.
These lively meetings are informative and enjoyable; they bring the students’ ideas and opinions to the fore, enabling them to have an input on certain issues or initiatives. Management and staff also find this a useful tool when considering education, standards and the well-being of all at Arthur Mellows.
