World Book Day
World Book Day gives us a chance to focus on the joy of reading. Not only can it transform lives, but research suggests that students who read for pleasure are more likely to achieve at school. Just imagine what a difference it would make if every student loved to read.
At AMVC we are dedicated to getting more students reading because we know that children who read are happier, healthier, more empathetic as well as more creative; they also do better at school!
This year World Book Day falls on Thursday 6 March and we will be hosting famous Peterborough poet, Charlie Genever, to AMVC library to deliver poetry workshops to Key Stage 3.
Staff will be dressing up as book characters and students can vote for their favourite costume.
There’s a prize draw in the library. Every time a student borrows a book, they get entered into our prize draw, so the more books they read the more chances they have of winning.
Year 7s also received a Book buzz book from the library just before Christmas. When they’ve read it, they can do a review and be entered into our competition. The winning prize is a £50 Amazon voucher and a goody bag.
