On Thursday 17 October 2024, AMVC held it’s annual Careers Fair.  The event was really well attended by parents and students exploring a wide variety of careers pathways. 

Exhibitors represented a broad cross-section of employment sectors, from Civil Service to Finance, Engineering to Sport and Law to Performing Arts.  They included Baker Perkins, Ensors, Ministry of Defence, Milestone Infrastructure, Savills, Stageworks, Truck East, Youth Dreams Project (YDP) and the Armed Forces. 

Representatives from the Police, Caterpillar Perkins and the Diocese of Peterborough also provided informative presentations regarding the scope of apprenticeship and employment opportunities within their fields of work, providing parents/carers and students with a great opportunity to broaden their horizons and have their burning questions answered.

Also present at the Careers Fair, were a broad selection of both Post 16 and Post 18 education and training providers.  Some of those exhibitors were local providers such as Inspire Education Group, TCHC and GPUTC, whilst additionally we had representatives from universities in Hertfordshire, Leicester, Lincoln, Leicester, Norfolk, Nottingham, Suffolk, as well as Peterborough.

It was rewarding to see the engagement with the exhibitors and the interactive elements that they had bought along to demonstrate aspects relevant to their workplaces, such as 3D printers, uniforms and machinery.  The parental engagement in supporting young people in exploring careers pathways and planning how to achieve those aspirations is remarkable.
